The End of Time – Thy Kingdom Come

The study of the End-Times is relevant to our lives today because of the WORLDWIDE changes happening at a very quick pace all around us. With worldwide instant communication available we are all very aware of these rapid developments. This can cause fear and anxiety. The people of God should not be anxious, but instead expectant! We expect the LORD Jesus Christ to come again and complete what He has intended from the beginning, that is, to establish His eternal KINGDOM over the whole universe with MANKIND as His Co-regents.

While we wait in this “time of the Gentiles,” we must remember that the Kingdom is NOT YET, but it is certain.

God, who can not lie, promised to establish this RULE beginning with His promise to Adam and Eve (the SEED) and then to Abraham (the LAND and the innumerable SEED, both Jews and Gentiles) and David (the SEED on the THRONE eternally). Today, we who have believed in the Lord Jesus carry the Kingdom in our hearts, because Christ is IN us.  We also carry the message of the KINGDOM on our lips as we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone, everywhere until Jesus returns. This is our “great commission” from Christ. We are KINGDOM PROCLAIMERS.

This “proclamation” is for all to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, so that they too can be sons and daughters of the Kingdom of God. Unless a person is “born again” he can not be a part of the Kingdom of God. It is our calling to PLEAD with mankind to be reconciled to God. How shall they believe in whom they have not heard? How shall they hear unless someone tells them? We all are “sent!”

Will you go and make disciples? Will you have “beautiful feet” and proclaim the good news, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of God: What is it?

Thy Kingdom ComeThe news today is full of discouraging items, everything from legalizing drugs, to celebrating sexual depravity, to the continuing murder of countless children in the womb and so much more.

We believers in Jesus Christ, sons and daughters of His Kingdom,  live in the “kingdom of darkness.” I tend to forget that. As a Bible believing Christian I should know this and not be so surprised when culture and the world run headlong into Hell. Adam’s flesh is fallen. It is dead to God and righteousness. The unsaved are “children of the devil.” The governments of this world are under the control of the “god of this world.”  We are between two worlds, two kingdoms, the kingdom of darkness and the coming Kingdom of Light.

So when I remember this, I must ponder and think deeply about the Kingdom that I do belong to. It is a Kingdom that is not here, yet. It is my “hope.” And this HOPE is sure. We are taught to pray, “Your Kingdom come,” because it is still future, but it is for sure. We are to be “groaning for” and longing for this kingdom, eagerly waiting for it with perseverance (Romans 8:18-25).  By God’s Grace in Jesus Christ, I am a member of this Kingdom. I have been transferred from the “dominion of darkness into the Kingdom of Light” because I am now “in Christ.” I belong to the “Kingdom of His dear Son.” I am a citizen of this heavenly kingdom because I have been “born again.” Jesus tells us to enter into the Kingdom “you must be born again.”  We must be regenerated, that is new life, eternal life. That Life only comes as a result of believing in the One and Only Lord Jesus Christ who then gives us His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Life.

We hear the term “Kingdom” used all the time in Evangelical circles today. “We are building the Kingdom of God.” We “expand the Kingdom of God.” We are “doing Kingdom work.” We say things like, “the Kingdom of God is in us.” I remember being taught in Bible school six different kingdoms that God rules over: the universal kingdom (God’s sovereign rule over the whole universe); the spiritual kingdom (believers individually and corporately the church); the theocratic kingdom (Israel); the Mystery Kingdom (Christendom); the Messianic Kingdom (Millennium); the Eternal Kingdom. This can get real confusing, especially when you have to really “stand on your head” to get all this from the Bible.

In fact the Bible, God’s Word to us today, only speaks of ONE Kingdom. That is the Kingdom of Christ, God or Heaven. It is the Kingdom promised to Abraham and his offspring by covenant. It is the Kingdom that God promised to David’s Son, the One David calls “LORD.” It is the Kingdom that the prophets all spoke of as the hope of Israel and the “covenant of Peace” and the “mercies of David.” It is embodied in the “New Covenant” prophesied by Jeremiah and seen in the “Son of Man” in Daniel. Hosea said that one day Israel will be restored to the land promised to Abraham when Messiah “will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, and I will say to those who were not My people, You are My people! And they will say, “You are my God!” God promised Abraham and therefore Israel the Kingdom of God. But the only way they were going to realize it was when Messiah came and restored them to it. The angels announced the birth of Messiah, prophets and prophetesses rejoiced! John the Baptizer was given as the Elijah “preparing the way of the Lord.” He came preaching, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near!” Jesus, the Messiah preached the same thing and taught His disciples to preach the same. The Kingdom was at hand, it was near! Messiah was here, but only a prepared people could receive the Kingdom. Repentance and faith was required, then and now.

When Israel rejected their Messiah the Kingdom was postponed. They killed Messiah as ordained by God, because He had to die for their sins and the sins of the whole world. But the disciples continued to anticipate the DAY when the Kingdom would come. The Day when Messiah would establish His throne in Israel, destroy their enemies and rule the whole world in righteousness from his father David’s throne. Jesus taught them this. For three and a half years He explained how to be prepared for the Kingdom in the many parables and who could enter in. When He rose from the dead He spent the next 40 days with his apostles explaining the Kingdom of God to them further (Acts 1:3) and before He ascended to the right hand of the Father they asked Him when He would establish this promised theocratic, Davidic Kingdom. And He said it was not for them or us to know, but until then we were to be His witnesses (martyrs) taking the Gospel of the Kingdom to the whole world until His return. He said to them in Matthew to “Make Disciples! of everybody, everywhere until I return.”

Friends, we are looking for a Kingdom not made with Hands, one that will come from Heaven when Jesus returns. When the King comes this next time, the Kingdom in Heaven will be established here on earth as it is in Heaven.

Let us be found faithful, enduring to the end, so that we and those who believe our message may share in the Prize of the Upward Call of Christ Jesus in His Kingdom.

Revelations 22
vs 7  “And behold, I am coming suddenly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book”

vs. 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
vs. 20 …”Yes, I am coming suddenly!”

BE READY!

Thy Kingdom Come!

Thy Kingdom ComeGod’s Kingdom that is coming is the Kingdom Reign of His dear Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God’s promised kingdom will break upon the world stage with a frightening force, with wrath and destruction all around. Jesus will right all the wrongs. The same One who “delivered Daniel from the power of the lions will come and deliver and rescue and perform signs and wonders in heaven and on earth.” Daniel 7:27

We follow our Lord’s example and pray for and anticipate the soon return of  the Son of Man, the son of David to establish the promised and prophesied Kingdom of God. God the Father has given the Kingdom to His dear Son. HIS WILL will be done on the earth as it is in the Heaven of Heavens once His Son returns.

Until then Satan is the ruler of this world and the prince of the power of the air. Until then the servants of the King are tempted and tried and abused and martyred. Until then we serve as the coming King’s Ambassadors preaching “Prepare yourselves for the coming of the Lord!” “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is coming.” “You must be born again to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (Christ’s Kingdom here on earth).

The Kingdom is not “at hand” as it was when the Son of Man came the first time, BUT it is for sure. Like Paul in Acts 28:30 we should be preaching about the Kingdom of God and teaching concerning the LORD (God) Jesus (Savior) Christ (Coming King).

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:13

JESUS said,
“And behold, I am coming quickly (suddenly, unexpectedly). Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book!”

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with ME, to render to every man according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of DAVID, the bright morning star.”

“YES, I am coming quickly!”

AMEN! Come, Lord Jesus!

NEW YEAR’S PRAYER

Prayer imageThank  you Lord for another year in this life so you can prove me and and improve me.

Thank you Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You are the ONE and only Triune God, Maker of the heaven and earth , salvation of all and sustainer of all. Your eternal life in the Lord Jesus Christ is my comfort and source of my strength.

Lord, today, I confess my failure to resist the world, my flesh and the devil himself. I acknowledge with shame my not believing your Word, which is faithful and true. I acknowledge my failure to depend upon your Holy Spirit, whom you gave me when you saved me. Your Spirit, who is in me, I have grieved and quenched! Forgive me.

Lord Jesus, I have denied your cross where you were crucified and where I was crucified with you! Where the power of sin was broken in me. Where the old man was slain! Yet Lord, I have continually raised him up and put him on! Lord, forgive me!

Lord Jesus, I have trampled your precious blood by the many sins I have willfully committed. Lord, it is by your precious blood that I have been forgiven before God! Lord, forgive me! Lord I confess all of this before  you.

Lord, it is by your grace and mercy I have been saved from my sin. You have promised to forgive me when I confess my sin. You have promised to cleanse me from the defilement of my sin and the sin done to me. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for cleansing my heart and mind. It is with confidence in your work, Lord Jesus, that I can come into the presence of God with my prayers. I have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus the Christ and freed by His broken body. YOU, Lord Jesus, are my advocate before the Father. You, Lord Jesus, are the Great High Priest. You have made me a fellow priest with You. Thank you.

Lord Jesus, my Great High Priest, I come to  you for grace not to sin! and for mercy when I do sin. LORD, it is only by your enabling power that I can be qualified to serve in your priesthood and represent you here on this earth.

Lord, as I draw near to you with a sincere heart, full of faith in your shed blood and broken body, I hold fast my confession that YOU, LORD Jesus, are my hope for eternal glory. By your enabling power I strive toward that upward call, that eternal prize of sharing your glory in your Kingdom here on earth, on that Day, when You return in power and great glory. Lord, I strive to be faithful to you in all things.

May I be a continual encouragement to my fellow brothers and sisters to do the same and be a blessing to them so they too can reach that same goal through love and good works. Lord, I strive to be faithful to your assembly, your Church, your Body here on earth until you come to establish your Kingdom here upon this earth. Lord, help me to remember that your Kingdom is not yet, but it is for sure! It is just as sure as your first coming in humility, so your second coming in great power and glory is sure! I am storing up treasures for the glorious Kingdom yet to come, not a worldly kingdom today. May I be humble now so that I may share your glory then!

My desire is to be glorified together with you to the praise of your glory. I want to hear you say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” But Lord, I can only be good and faithful by your enabling power. I strive to walk by faith in you, that is, in your Word, so that your grace may abound in me and to me, O Lord My God.

Thank you for the gift of eternal life! Thank you for the challenge of the prize of sharing your glory in your coming Kingdom!

Lord Jesus, I consider everything to be worthless in view of the surpassing greatness of knowing you and being counted worthy to partake of your glory in your Kingdom. What GRACE! What Honor! Lord Jesus, thank you!

When you return I want to be standing in your righteousness  alone. I do not want to be ashamed in my own righteousness, which is as filthy rags! Today and always, may I know the power of  your resurrection life in me. May I learn to suffer against the world, the flesh and the devil and be conformed in my life to your life and death when you suffered against temptation and for my sin while upon the earth, so that I may walk in this new way of life today.

Lord, by faith I press on to lay hold of your eternal glory for your glory! It is your desire to glorify me together with you. This is my desire too. But I need your grace, your power, working in me.

This is my prayer for 2015 and the rest of my life until I see you face to face.
Maranatha! Come soon Lord Jesus.
Amen
